Public debt market maker
We continue to strengthen the important work of public debt market maker,
with our listings platform running through Bloomberg providing real-time
executable prices to counterparties. In addition, we still take part in Spanish
Treasury auctions, including syndicated issuances. We also offer services in
debt issued by other treasuries, such as Germany, Italy, the USAand Portugal
among others.
Apart from State debt, we have also added the daily price in real time of over
300 eligible private fixed income bonds for regions, corporates and debentu-
res. This is quite an important step for several reasons: the evolution of the
business required it. It helps us to extend our range of national and inter-
national customers who have access to our prices, and it projects us as an
institution which plays a role in the market.
2. Banknotes
We have provided foreign currency services to financial
institutions for over 30 years.
Cecabank is the market leader in Spain for wholesale foreign banknotes in
Spain and we provide services to almost all the country’s financial institu-
tions. Cecabank has a wealth of experience in securities logistics and trans-
portation, at both a national and international level.
Thanks to our logistics structure and economies of scale, we can offer custo-
mers a highly flexible, top quality service which adapts to their every need.
Activity during the year
Over the course of 2016, Cecabank received over 2,500 foreign banknote
purchase and sales transactions per day and carried out the whole process of
transport, handling and security. Our clients have total flexibility for reques-
ting any type of service and can even ask Cecabank to directly deliver bank-
notes to their branch network or to take them away, with the corresponding
cost saving and improvement in the quality of service. Over 18,000 bank
branches are currently served directly by Cecabank in this way.
