Why does Cecabank have a CSR policy?

“Cecabank is not far from the environment it works in, and is conscious of

the fact that to strengthen its strategy and relationships over the long term

with its customers and other stakeholders it needs to have environmental,

social, and good governance issues at the core of its activity. We also want to

align ourselves with the responsible practices of our shareholders, members

and clients. As such, we approved the CSR Policy in 2016 which takes into

account the fact that Cecabank is a wholesale bank and has no focus on the

end-consumer, which offers very specialist services to other organisations.

What are the key areas of activity?

Taking into account the wholesale character of our business we have defined

four key areas of activity:

the long term

moting efficient consumption and a reduction in the company’s impact

How is it organised internally?

To give support to these lines of activity, Cecabank has an interdepartmen-

tal committee - the CSR and Sustainability Committee, which represents all

areas of the company, and which meets up on a quarterly basis to motivate

activities and monitor the targets set. This is all outlined and kept up-to-date

on our corporate website and we also include annual performance in the ma-

nagement report approved by our Steering Committee..

What have we worked on in 2016?

The bank’s CSR and Sustainability Committee implemented its Policy and

Constitution in 2016. We have started to develop initiatives in certain areas of

our business. Specifically, we are designing a facility to improve the monitoring

of compliance with sustainable investment policies for pension plans deposited

at Cecabank. We are also incorporating aspects of social responsibility in our

scheme to assess extra-financial risks of our potential counterparties.

In 2017 we would like to expand this to the financial and treasury areas.

We have also developed initiatives in the social field, producing a code for

suppliers inspired by the Global Compact Principles. And we have also conso-

lidated our social action policy which aims to bring together the commitment

of employees and that of Cecabank. As such, all social action is reliant on

these two pillars: employees, Cecabank.

The main programme in this framework is called Tú eliges (You choose) be-

cause the employees themselves propose projects and Cecabank provides

financial resources to the one that receives the most votes. We also give su-

pport to the Food Bank, where many of our former colleagues also work, or-

ganising donation campaigns when humanitarian emergencies hit, as well as

blood donation campaigns, and a Christmas market, etc.
