Cecabank analyses the financial future from the perspective of the feminine leadership

This morning, as part of International Women's Day, Cecabank held the event "The future of the financial sector from a female perspective", a meeting that brought together leading women in the finance industry at the entity's Espacio28. The main objective was to analyse the major challenges that are transforming the industry and to highlight the female leadership driving this evolution.

The day began with the institutional welcome offered by Verónica Antolínez, corporate director of People, Culture and Integrated Services at Cecabank. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of making female talent visible for its decisive contribution in creating more diverse and innovative work environments, and emphasised women's key role as catalysts for organisational resilience and competitiveness. Furthermore, she emphasised the importance of initiatives like this conference to advance discussions around equality and provide a broader perspective.

Following the opening, a roundtable discussion was held focusing on the challenges and opportunities within the financial sector. Involved in the discussions were Isabel Gómez, Director of Transformation and Innovation at Kutxabank; María José Gómez, Head of Resolution, Benchmark Indices and Financial Stability Issues at the CNMV; and Marta Pastor, Director of Security Operations at Cecabank. The session, moderated by Mercedes Morán, Director of Service Management (SMO) at Cecabank, allowed for a deeper exploration of the key aspects of transformation and innovation in the industry, and how financial institutions compete with technology companies.fintechs for attracting the talent of new generations and on the structural challenges and barriers that limit access to certain positions of responsibility for female talent, among other topics.

In closing, a conversation took place between Ana Martín de Santa Olalla, CEO of CaixaBank Asset Management, and Ainhoa ​​Jáuregui, CEO of Cecabank. Both executives, bringing the wealth of experience accumulated in their careers at the head of leading financial institutions, have shared their vision on the future of the financial sector and the need to continue promoting corporate cultures that contribute to professional growth, the visibility of female talent and diversity in teams.

Cecabank's commitment to diversity, equality and the promotion of female talent is part of its strategy to build a more competitive, innovative and sustainable financial system. Cecabank has a balanced workforce, with women accounting for 50% of staff, and actively works to increase their presence in positions of responsibility through internal promotion, leadership and professional development policies.

As for good governance, the entity has continued to make progress in female representation in its decision-making bodies. As of 31 December 2025, 41.6% of the Board of Directors is composed of women, reaching 100% in the case of independent directors. As for senior management, the Management Committee is made up of ten members, five of them women, thus achieving a 50% balance that reinforces the adoption of best governance practices.

This commitment is also reflected in the Equality Plan and various work-life balance measures, as well as in leadership, mentoring and training programmes with a focus on equality. The organisation has certifications such as EFR, which guarantee an inclusive and responsible work environment. Furthermore, Cecabank is part of initiatives such as Empowering Women's Talent, promoted by Equipos & Talento and, since March 2025, has been recognised with the Equality in Business Distinction awarded by the Ministry of Equality. In a similar vein, it has recently joined Women in Banking, an international network that champions the visibility, leadership and connection of professional women in the financial sector.
