Since its launch in 2015, “Tú Eliges” (You Choose) has channelled more than 1,075,000 euros to 134 charity projects, consolidating Cecabank’s commitment to inclusion, sustainability, and the well-being of the most vulnerable groups

Cecabank has held a new edition of its “Tú Eliges” programme, an initiative that channels the solidarity and social commitment of its employees and forms part of the organisation’s Social Action Plan, integrated into its Sustainability Policy. This year, the programme included a total donation of 150,000 euros, allocated to finance the projects submitted and selected by the workforce.

The grants were presented to the various beneficiary associations and foundations yesterday at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, at an event that brought together representatives of the recipient organisations, employees, and senior management of the institution, in an atmosphere recognising the collective effort to promote transformative initiatives for the benefit of society.

The 11th edition of “Tú Eliges” once again highlighted the commitment of Cecabank and its people to the development of a more inclusive society, the promotion of culture, and environmental protection. This year, 23 projects were submitted, distributed across three categories: social, cultural and environmental. The edition saw broad participation from the workforce, reaching 85%, underlining the strong commitment and social awareness demonstrated by Cecabank employees when supporting and promoting the solidarity initiatives presented.

The most voted proposal was “UNOENTRECIENMIL – Against Childhood Leukaemia”, by the Unoentrecienmil Foundation, a project focused on research and the fight against this disease, with the aim of achieving a full cure for childhood leukaemia. To this end, it promotes the funding of innovative scientific studies and supports charity initiatives such as “Back to School”, a sporting event that mobilises the educational community in support of research.

Verónica Antolínez, Corporate Director of People, Culture and Integrated Services at Cecabank, highlighted the value of this initiative as a reflection of the collective commitment of the workforce: “Tú Eliges represents the very essence of Cecabank’s social commitment”. Every year, all employees actively engage in projects that improve people’s lives and help build a more supportive, inclusive, and sustainable society. Their participation shows that, together, we can create a real and lasting impact”.

Since its launch in 2015, “Tú Eliges” has become the most representative initiative of Cecabank’s social action. With a total cumulative endowment of more than 1,075,000 euros, the programme has enabled the funding of 134 social, cultural, and environmental projects aimed at promoting research and the development of innovative therapies, improving patients’ quality of life, fostering inclusion through culture, music, and sport, and protecting the environment through actions to conserve flora and fauna, among others.

Likewise, thanks to the active involvement of its workforce, Cecabank — a partner organisation of the UN Global Compact — reinforces through this initiative its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and consolidates its role as a benchmark in social action within the financial sector, promoting a model of responsible banking that is committed to people.

Cecabank and its charity network: social commitment in action

Cecabank continues to expand the scope and number of its charity initiatives each year, consolidating a network of collaboration with foundations and associations that generate a positive impact on society and their surroundings. This sustained growth reflects the organisation’s active commitment to social action, particularly in support of the most vulnerable groups.

In addition to “Tú Eliges”, its flagship social action programme, Cecabank has once again strengthened its commitment to society through a range of charity initiatives.

The institution maintains a close partnership with the Red Cross, supporting it in emergency situations within Spain, and responds to requests for humanitarian assistance from the Spanish Emergency Committee. Cecabank also has a strong track record of collaboration with the Madrid Food Bank, working together each year on campaigns such as Operation Kilo and sponsoring spaces in its facilities.

Its commitment to social inclusion and reducing the digital divide is reflected in the creation of classrooms aimed at vulnerable groups. Since 2021, Cecabank has launched ICT classrooms in collaboration with organisations such as the Bobath Foundation, Adisli Foundation, Senara Foundation, Integra Foundation, the Royal Oratory of the Caballero de Gracia, and Casa San Cristóbal of the Montemadrid Foundation.

The institution also promotes corporate volunteering programmes, notably basic digital skills training with the Integra Foundation, and financial education and school dropout prevention with the Junior Achievement Foundation. Since 2023, Cecabank has participated in the “A letter to a grandparent” initiative, promoted by the Adopta un abuelo (Adopt a grandparent) NGO, further strengthening its commitment to the elderly.
