The CNMV acknowledges Cecabank training qualifications on MiFID II

25 October 2017
  • The supervisory organisation adds two Banking Training School (EFB) courses to those accrediting training
  • The qualifications certify that the assessing or advising personnel possess the necessary competency on investment services

The Banking Training School's MiFID II qualifications were acknowledged by the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). They recognise that the training provided meets the requirements of the Technical Guide published by the supervisory body in June.

The CNMV acknowledges that Cecabank is an authorised issuer of 'Comercial Financiero MiFID II’ and ‘Asesor Financiero MiFID II’ qualifications. It complies with the requirements laid down by the Spanish supervisor based on the guidelines established by the European Securities Market Authority (ESMA) in 2016. The first qualification empowers the holder to report on investment services and the second to advise thereon. The knowledge and skills necessary to do so are, thus, certified. The CNMV transferred such knowledge and skills established by ESMA to Spanish banking regulations.

The EFB is consolidated as a benchmark academic institution

Currently, around 4,700 students from 15 financial institutions are receiving MiFID II training at Cecabank's EFB. Some 900 of these have already taken exams.

After more than 40 years' history, the EFB consolidates its position as a benchmark academic institution for training professionals. All of them with a high level of competency and social responsibility in the banking and insurance sector.

The EFB is highly specialised. It is focused on financial, regulatory and management fields, and it enables us to provide solutions to the challenges faced by companies. Thus, the school accredits the knowledge and skills of professionals in the sector according to European standards and the academic excellence criteria of Spanish universities.
